The high speed frequency hopping system usually means the spread spectrum system whose hopping speed is faster than 500h/s. FFH system is paid great attention in the field of military communication for its excellent anti-interference, anti-capture and artificial blocking resistance. FH frequency synthesizer which is a key part of FFH system has a important influence on FFH performance. Therefore it is very meaningful to make a research on the FFH frequency synthesizer design and research.Based on the demand of the paper, the paper makes a thorough study on the design of the frequency synthesizer and the frequency hopping sequence. After the analysis of the frequency hopping theory and the frequency synthesizer theory, a plurality of frequency synthesizer plans are presented and a DDS frequency synthesizer meeting the demands is applied for the paper; in the meantime the paper also makes a comparison between the m frequency hopping sequence and the RS frequency hopping sequence in the feature and generation and chooses RS(n,2) sequence to control the hopping of the carrier here.To meet the demands of system expansion, implantation and reversion as well as wide frequency spectrum covering, a advanced DDS frequency synthesizer with AD9954 as its key hardware and DSP TMS320VC5416 and FPGA EP2C8Q208C8 as control center and data processing unit Thereby a complete frequency hopping synthesizer is designed and realized which reaches a rate of 2000h/s and has good performance.
