The special effects are the main characteristics of technology to achieve the realistic images and to make the real scene of spaces in 3Dgames. It plays an irreplaceable role in reasonable simulation of real-world and some important factors in environment. It provides important technical supports for the resolve of the bottleneck between the machine performance and visual effects, it also extends many flexible applications of traditional images processing technology. Therefore, with the development of 3Dgame, it is even more important to abstract the special effects in 3Dgame, to implement the technologies and to achieve the researches.Based on the special effects technologies, the article first discusses light model, particle systems, fog effect, bump mapping, non-photorealistic rendering, the environment of reflection and refraction in the DirectX development environment, and basic principles of the realization. Then it researches the algorithms of the process to achieve and discusses the applications of the solution. In addition, it introduces the improvement methods of the special effects to achieve the need of actually development of applications in the 3Dgames, it is a reasonable light and the sky boxes, particle systems to support the dynamic clouds, high water effects based on the normal mapping, dynamic falls of texture mapping, fog effect, smoke and rain and snow, as well as the appearance of realistic construction technologies. In particularly, the experiments study the non photorealistic rendering technology in the game scenes, as a total special effects scenes, it conducts an in-depth expansion. Finally, it achieves a real-time 3Dgame scene demo that involves all kinds of special effects in the VT engine, and compares the data obtained in the experiment and makes reasonable analysis, This support more methods and more technologies so that it have realizable meaning.
