Wireless sensor networks has already become one of the activere search branches of computer science due to it has wide application in the future. Since the sensor nodes the size limit, but because of wireless sensor networks often contain a large number of sensor nodes,and the nodes deployed in the worst environment, the environment and even some dangerous so the maintenance staff are not accessible , the energy become the most restricted, the most precious resources in wireless sensor networks.Therefore, reducing power consumption and prolonging the network lifetime are important target in the wireless sensor network research.Topology control is one of the most fundamental problems in wireless sensor networks.It is of great importance for prolonging network lifetime,reducing radio interference,increasing the efficiency of MAC(media access control) protocols and routing protocols,among other things. Most existing algorithms on topology control assume homogeneous wireless sensor networks,but the nodes are often different that is heterogeneous wireless sensor networks in practice application, so research of topology control algorithm on heterogeneous wireless sensor networks is a more significant than the on the homogeneous.Firstly, the structure,character,the form of heterogeneous, applications and the hot of related research on wireless sensor networks are introduced in this paper. Secondly, the existing classic topology control algorithm in wireless sensor network is introduced and analyzed from two directions, the one is node power control, the other is sleep scheduling, and the topology control of heterogeneous wireless sensor networks is further introduced. And then the affect the performance of topology in-depth analysis for heterogeneous wireless sensor networks, consider nodes'contribution from the activity and redundancy, analysis of nodes'contribution effect on lifetime of wireless sensor networks,and put forward a strategy to improve. On this basis,the heterogeneous sensor network topology control algorithm LCC is put forward, the remaining nodes liftime as the main basis when the cluster head rotation in the algorithm, activity and redundancy of node is considered as a parameter according to the nodes' role different, so not only saved the nodes play a critical role in the energy, but also prolong the lifetime of the wireless sensor networks. In order to verify the validity of the algorithm LCC, simulates algorithm LCC by the network simulation platform of OPNET, the nodes of small contribution to the wireless sensor network can be preference chosen as the head of cluster, the important node is protected in energy consumption, and the lifetime of wireless sensor network is prolonged.
