This paper is dedicated to the research based on the XML database middleware (herein named XMLDBMW) design and application. It will facilitate procedures for the use of XML and relational database access in both directions. This article first examines the XML features, advantages and development trends, and noted that a variety of independent application software, WEB database (reflected in the data collection and dissemination), heterogeneous database integration, enterprise application integration EIS is more and more data to XML as a format. On this basis of the XML for data storage and said, it compared with the relational database, and their relationship. They are very important in these areas, but there contradictions and differences, the need to coordinate with each other, which leads to the need for research on XMLDBMW.1. XMLDBMW design for the subject the following main modules: the client adapter and communication, user and connection management, control modules, compression decompression, XML and relational database schema mapping and data migration. Based on the application requirements, middleware features, flexibility to consider the application, the modular design of visions and ideas. And pointed out that the other database middleware comparison of the characteristics and advantages of middleware.2. Then further details on the module based on the realization of JAVA. Such as: system configuration management module, communication adapter threads, thread control, system management and monitoring process, buffer management modules, such as mapping mode. Mapping of the depth of research, design and the related basic algorithm to achieve.3. The application of relevant issues (environmental and configuration, client development, systems activated, monitoring, etc.) as well as the XML-based middleware in the management system on to the end of XMLDBMW research.
