Automatic technologies are used more and more because of globalization of economy and automatic management of enterprises. The market of costume industry is huge but the competition is fierce. It is very important to enhance producing efficiency and reduce costs of product in front of fast demands of customers. Cloth cutting machine which performance decides the efficiency of an enterprise is a main kind of facilities in clothing manufacturing, and its intelligence will force the development of the costume industry.For enhancing the speed and precision of the cloth cutting machine, this thesis study its motion control systems based on reviewing the corresponding results in existing literatures. The key of the study is how to optimize the path for shortening the trace of the cutter and how to control the speed of the cutter for reducing the time spent. The main work and contribution of the thesis are as follows:Firstly, the structure and the resource of DSP processor named TMS320F2812 are introduced. Main pins and its function of step motor driver named M542 are referred as well. Then the hardware platform of the motion controller is built including the power, serial communication and position measurement.Secondly, an optimization algorithm is proposed under condition that profiles should be cut from inner to outer layer. Uncertainness of the number of profiles and how many points on profiles makes the problem more complex. So the genetic algorithm (GA) combined with effective heuristic is designed to find a minimum-cost tour passing through one node from each cluster. The special chromosome, crossover operation, mutation operation and the self-adaptive strategy are presented in the proposed algorithm.Thirdly, the speed limitation when the cutter pass through the corner between two lines is considered, and in order to make sure that the speed changes smoothly and maintain a high value when processing the stuff, a preprocess method with "S" curve divided into five segments is used in the speed control. The method will avoid the flexible clash of the cloth cutting machine. Fourthly, an application is completed including the function of reading PLT files, tool-path optimization, serial communication, data show and edit. And the speed control algorithm and interpolation method are carried out on the DSP processor.Finally, the work accomplished in this thesis is briefly summarized and some remarks on further improvement of the motion control systems are also presented.
