Conflicts between limited traffic facilities and continuously growing traffic demand lead into gradually severe traffic jam. In 1980s, Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) was introduced to improve the efficiency of transportation system, it is now widely used in many countries. Transportation systems can hardly be studied through theoretical analysis or experiments for their large scale and complicated influencing factors. Microscopic Traffic Simulation (MTS) is an effective way to study ITS. And parameters calibration is always an indispensible procedure before applying traffic simulation cause traffic situation differs extensively between different zones.Parameters calibration used to be done by comparing the macroscopic statistics of simulation and real systems. This thesis brought forward a Microscopic Parameters Calibration (MPC) method, which means calibrating MTS model parameters directly using Microscopic Traffic Data (MTD). main accomplishment includes 3 parts as followed:1. Bought forward the method of MPC, detailed its objective function. algorithm to solve the problem and validation process.2. Analyzed and Processed standard MTD to prepare data for MPC.3. Designed and programmed MTS software, implemented MPC and analysison 3 MTS models.
