With the coming of 3 G age, super high speed, super capacity and super long distance is the inevitable trend of optical communication development. Optical switch and optical switch array are important optical apparatuses in optical fiber communication system.With the development of optical fiber communication technology, Application of DWDM in metropolitan area network and access network leads to a urgent demand for the kind of optical switch which has insert-division and exchange function. Under the supporting of the project—"the research on principle of grating array--reflecting micro-optical switch"—funded by the Ministry of Education Dr. disciplines special research Fund and the project—"the research on principle blazed optical switch based on MEMS technology"—funded by the Chongqing Municipal Science and Technology Commission Natural Science Fund. This paper combined the current development status of optical switch with practice at home and abroad , and then deeply studies on a technology of reflector type micro optical switch .This Paper completed the following work :1,It reviewed the development history and mainstream technology of optical switch .2,It established the theory model of the impact of grating pitch on diffraction edge ,based on the deeply study about diffraction angle,diffraction efficiency and grating parameters optimization of micro grating array apparatus.3,It established the relationship between grating constant,blaze angle,incident angle,incident wavelength and diffraction angle, found out the basic rule that incident angle limits wavelength bandwidth .4,It used ABCD matrix principle of gaussian beam to analyze transmission rule of gaussian beam in free space ,designed micro-sphere-lens used for beam collimating/expending and v-groove autocollimation pedestal , obtained the relationship through experimental analysis between the blaze angle of grating and optical properties of specific interference order and their interaction.5,It discussed the manufacturing craft, emphatically analyzed the process parameters which influence the performance of optical switch resolution,diffraction efficiency,accuracy。Through comparing the craft , that using grey level mask graphics transfer to making optical switch make the manufacturing process of the high step,precision size optical switch more simple.6,It used software to do simulation experiment on the system, laboratory results showed that the reflective micro-optical switch meets expected demand.
