Study On Digital-TV STB Technique And Its Application

Digital revolution is now a worldwide new technology revolution, including the digital television revolotuion. Digital TV technology is now an inevitable trend of the development of TV industry, also it is the indispensible precondition of the television networking, which will lead a qualitative leap in development of TV industry comparing to the traditional anolog technology. Digital TV is a fully digital system, which means the producing, editing, emitting, signal transmitting and receiving, processing, displaying of TV programmes are all involved with digital technology. The digital TV set-top box based on computer technology is a receiving terminal of digital broadcasting TV programmes, which are carried and transmitted through the existing CATV network.The thesis focuses on the digital set-top box technologies, as well as the private information and fuctions added in the transmittion stream according to the operation requirement of Chongqing Cable TV Network Company.The main work here of the thesis is shown below:1. Research on the technology of digital video, the principles and features of HFC (fiber / cable hybrid network), the compression and codec technology of digital video. Work out a comprehensive analysis of the solution of the digital video signal transmission through the hybrid fiber coaxial (HFC) cable system. Study of the differencies between traditional coaxial cable network system and hybrid fiber coaxial (HFC) system.2. Research on the MPEG-2 and DVB standard of digital television, especially the multiplexing mechanisms of MPEG-2 and DVB and the specific programs information (PSI/SI). Work out a detailed analysis of the data structures and functions of the PSI tables, which makes a deep understanding of the entire MPEG -2 and DVB system. Give out an analysis of the actual transport stream custemed by Chongqing Cable TV Network Company.3. Research on related concepts and principles of digital TV set-top box, also analysis and design the hardware architecture and software system of digital TV set-top box according to the main standard of digital TV. Give out an overall plan and description of embedded DVB-C set-top box. Research on the hierarchical model of software, and design an entire set-top box platform based on the QAMi5516 chip, which is now used in the network of CQCNT.4, Study of the core functions of the digital TV set-top boxes currently used by Chongqing Cable TV Network, including conditional access system, Loader and EPG, and give out solutions of these functions according to the network status of CQCNT. Study of the private business of CQCNT, such as program categorization, sorting and hiding, and make an introduction of the related subsystems.At last, the thesis gives out a design plan of an intellectual mutilmedia terminal, according to the CQCNT's requirement of future usage of the digital TV terminal and the development of future house intellectual digital terminal.
