With the development of computer network and multimedia technology,there is a growing need for video surveillance system in society.Comparing with traditional simulative video system, surveillance system has lots of advantages:easily built net,long distance transmission,great ability of anti-jamming, good-quality figure,convenient inquiry,and so on.These properties make surveillance system key points to the technology of the third era DDS.The system designed in this thesis is a remote digital video surveillance system on Web.It centers on computer technology and brings together theories and technology on video processing, communication,network,data storage and display.Modular design has been introduced.Media control integrates with browser through ActiveX technology.Web browser realizes the interaction between user and system that makes the browser range reach unheard-of levels.Firstly,the thesis gives an introduction of connecting net and the network of China telegraphy.It reviews the development of surveillance system,describes the principle of digital video data compression,data transmission and data storage.Then,it proposes the overall design of remote digital video surveillance system on web.Based on the total need,it designs the function modules and describes every module's function and implement in detail.In the network transport module,RTP encapsulation of MPEG video stream,data processing based on simplified RTP protocol and WinSock Client/Server communication mechanism and multi-cast technology are introduced.In the database storage and access module,the structure design updating scheme and function implementation of center database is proposed.In the centre control server management flat,control mechanism,communication protocol and work process is given.In the remote console module, it uses DirectShow technology to display the real-time remote video data and points out how to use,download and install ActiveX control in web page.Based on the MPEG-4 video coding technology, after analyzing practical use of surveillance system,the thesis finally completes its design.This system has the basic surveillance function such as video image collection,real-time transmission and video data stream reversing.The thesis explicates the use of multithreading in video data collection, emphases on net-work real-time transmission,and design the data stream reversing function according to the theory and property of DirectShow module.In the end of the thesis,localization in the system design is indicated and a plan for further developing is also suggested.
