This thesis analyzes the theory of self-learning PID (Proportion Integral Differential) control arithmetic and traditional PID control arithmetic, and their potential applications in different process controls. The different functions of the parameters in PID arithmetic and their advantages and disadvantages are summarized with applying CVI (C for Virtual Instrument) simulating these control arithmetic. Traditional PID control arithmetic is applied in a wind-speed control system, in which many problems have been found, such as it is infirm to disturbing. The thesis proposes a scheme using self-learning PID control arithmetic to solve these problems.(1) The traditional PID control arithmetic is analyzed. The code of the PID control arithmetic with modern computer technology is programmed. Different variations of PID arithmetic in different applications such as stabilizing ability are summarized, which can better satisfy the engineering requirements.(2) Based on CVI, ideal control object and relaxing control object with disturbing factors are simulated using self-learning control arithmetic and traditional control arithmetic. It is shown that the anti-disturbing ability and adaptive ability of self-learning PID is better than that of traditional PID.(3) PID control arithmetic has been applied in Wind-speed Control System of the Low Wind-speed Tunnel Project in Hong Kong City University, and the control precision of 3% for the system is attained. In order to deal with the problems found in the project, such as the redundancy of ascertaining the control parameters repeatedly, a scheme applying self-learning PID control arithmetic instead of traditional PID control arithmetic has been discussed.From the discussion of self-learning PID control arithmetic and traditional PID control arithmetic, the possibility of self-learning PID control arithmetic is proposed in the application of wind-speed control.
