Simulation-based Acquisition is a new acquisition mode which has gradually blossomed in many countries especially developed countries during recent years. Simulation-based Acquisition emphasizes utilizing Modeling and Simulation technology to research the whole acquisition lifecycle of new weapon equipments and curtail acquisition costs, reduce development time and enhance management efficiency. Conceptual design is the most important step of Simulation-based Acquisition, which determines the general structure and most costs of weapon equipments. So it has essential meanings to provide scientific decision support to conceptual design for the realization of Simulation-based Acquisition and the progress of national defence industry.The aim of the thesis is to apply the problem solving methodology of Case-based Reasoning in Artificial Intelligence to Simulation-based Acquisition of weapon equipments, and to provide a scientific and intelligent conceptual design support tool for the manufacture of new weapon equipments. At the beginning, the thesis introduces the background knowledge of Simulation-based Acquisition of weapon equipments, systematically analyze the conceptual design which is one of phase acquisition tasks, and discuss the concept, the characteristics and the flow of conceptual design. Afterward, based on the discussion of the Case-based Reasoning theory, the thesis advances the basic framework and information process flow of conceptual design system based on CBR and intensively analyzes the key technologies, fulfills the formalization expression of knowledge by XML, applies the search strategy which consists several arithmetics to increase the search efficiency. Considering the complex and hierarchy of the structure of weapon equipments, the thesis advances the multi-levels search techniques to fully mine existing knowledge. Furthermore, the author fulfills the conceptual design software prototype system based on .NET platform, and confirms the system validity by a simulation test. Last, the thesis makes a conclusion and a research prospect.
