The Computer Aided Fixture Design (CAFD) on the basis of the technology of similarity, which makes full use of the abundant experience and techniques, can improve the efficiency and quality of fixture design, and is of great importance to promote the manufacturing development. In this thesis, the technologies of CAFD with similarity under three-dimension environment are proposed.The current study situation and development tendency of CAFD are analyzed, and followed with the discussion of the significance, characters and advantages of CAFD under three-dimension environment. Further on, the general scheme and systematic structure about CAFD system based on three-dimension platform is developed.The case base of fixture is the foundation of fixture similarity design. According to the modular fixture element's characteristic and classification, a method based on feature and parametric modeling is employed for three-dimension modeling of fixture element. Based on them, the drawing library including fixture element and the result of fixture design are preliminary established. With Oracle as database platform, research and development the database management system of fixture element are performed, and where the addition, amendment or deletion operations of fixture elements are directly performed in the Pro/E environment.Based on the analysis of fixture similarity, calculation method about fixture similarity is established. With the provision of measurement approach about similar indices, weights of them are calculated with Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method based on triangular fuzzy function, which can analyze quantitatively rather than judge subjectively.To verify and apply the methods and technologies discussed above, CAFD, a prototype system on the basis of Pro/E, is developed. Some practical examples are then given to illustrate the feasibility of the system.Finally, the work of this thesis is summarized and further research orientations are pointed out.
