| Any critical telecom system would give a highest requirement to the High Availability(HA) which is a necessary component of applied system. It is materially significant to the HA implementation of the hardware and software components, especially to the software in the Soft Switch network architecture. Media gateway is located in the access layer in the Soft Switch network architecture, which offers transforming of media data under the control of call services. The design of HA in media gateway is very important due to the pivotal function of media gateway.After illuminating the media gateway hardware and software constitution, MEGACO protocol and relating concepts of Soft Switch System, this paper sums up main applicable technology about HA based on the essential concepts. Due to the significance of HA design, it analyses the implementation for media gateway HA with mathematic models. After this, it provides a software design method about media gateway high availability. With the purpose of high availability independence to platforms, the design is composed of platform HA and application HA, which are responsible for platform supporting and synchronous data managing respectively. The HA statuses are expanded to satisfy media gateway technically, and the relating statuses transition and notifying events are also designed. Then this paper gives a software implement strategy according to the design method. It defines various kinds of notifying events in order to harmonize working statuses between active/standby equipments effectively, and illuminates the consistency checking methods about different synchronous data. Some flow charts about main working process are also utilized to explain the process clearly.Media gateway could be more independent to platforms with this method, and also stratify the demands of high availability. It has implemented in the practical equipments. |
