With the rapid development of computer technology and graphics, computer animation which is the combination of computer technology and graphics has also developed and penetrated into people's lives in many fields: games, advertising, medical, education and the military. It has become a tens of billions of dollars in annual output value of the industry. And the enormous challenge for the application of computer technology in animation is how to produce realistic human movement. Motion capture has become the most important means of animation with its unparalleled realism and the powerful editing technology of motion capture data. Motion blending is an important method in editing technology which are used to edit the motion capture data. Motion blending can generate new motion that doesn't exist in the motion capture database and achieve the transition and interpolation of motions.After study the registration curves based motion blending algorithm the improving method that blend the angle and path respectively is proposed. First construct the time warping curve to determine the corresponding frames. Then convert the Euler angle of corresponding frames to quaternion and blend the quaternion according to their weights. After blending the quaternion, convert the result to Euler angle again. Finally generate the object motion. In the course of blending we process the motion data to convert the amc format motion capture data to matrix and modify the corresponding joint data .After add the constraints on object motion we can get the result. We take the simulation according to the algorithm that we proposed.A new method to blend motions is proposed too. First divide the motion object to upper and lower extremity movement and then blend them .At last a motion editing and blending system based on Maya platform is designed and implemented. With Maya MEL commands people can read the motion capture files and set the blending model and the weight function to finally produce simple motion blending.
