Making use of the technology of image vectorization in auto-programming system for NC WEDM is very important. Ordinary NC WEDM programming systems are always bound with CAD system and require very heavy work in modeling. On the research of profile machining, we provide a method based on image vectorization to help profile modeling. Our system can transform raster images into vectorgraphs for programming and machining.Required by realities, this dissertation has done much research of image vectorization, analyzes and explains the key technology of vectorization and NC process, including vectorization, toolpath's generation and NC code's output, the vectorization and toolpath's generation are emphases.Based on our research, by using tool"Delphi 7.0", with the optimal process and algorithms, we have developed a WEDM programming system based on vectorization process of scanned images-JXCAD. The JXCAD software with friendly interface employs interactive graphics automatic programming technology and can be run on PC and Windows platform.Our auto programming system for NC WEDM can transform raster image into vectorgraph successfully, it can help us to avoid mistakes in redrawing work and reduce the difficulty of modeling. JXCAD can be used by most CAD/CAM systems and will accelerate the automatization of design and machining. Our research benefits the information's acquiration and will have a good projection in application.
