Since the appearance of the first WEDM (wire electrical discharge machining), WEDM system has made a rapid progress and has been widely applied in die making, profile cutting tool and manufacturing of complex-profile products with high precision. At present, CAD/CAM and CNC are seemed as two independent parts when WEDM system is designed, consequently, some way has to be used to transmit the processing code which is made by CAM module to CNC, after that, we make interpolation to drive machine to produce. In that process mentioned above, there is low integration between the CAM and CNC, which complicates the process. There are lots of advantages by using the technology of CAD/CAM/CNC integration. There is no gap between designing and machining, CAD module can drive machine directly to produce workpiece. So, the process of program can be simplified, the efficiency and the quality can be improved. At the same time, the system is stable, convenience and have good prospect of network by using the Linux as the environment. The following works are accomplished around the design and realization of the integrated CAD/CAM/CNC software system for WEDM (wire electrical discharge machining) on Linux environment in this thesis: On the base of analyzing the Integrated CAD/CAM/CNC Software System, this thesis provides an integrated layout and divides the system into the three parts of CAD, CAM, CNC and describes the function details of every modules. Based on OpenGUI graphics database, a CAD module is developed, which can draw two dimensional shape easily, accomplish functions of graphics transform, and save or load the complete drawing. The CAM module consists of the algorithm of cutter path and post processing. In the process of the automatic programming, the cutter path can be gotten by using the three algorithms of no marker taper/land combinations, contour linearization, calculation of center trace, and then, get the machine's increment of axis by using creating four-axis motion model. There is no need to create the G code. In CNC module, the increment of axis can be gotten from the CAM module directly and be interpolated to drive machine to produce workpiece. For avoiding noise and low precision come from frequent change of speed, the algorithm of continuous interpolation control of micro-lines is used in this module.
