In view of the high medical risk of surgical correction of spinal surgery and in order to effectively prevent or reduce the risk,the application of computer virtual reality technologies for spinal surgery,including planning,simulating and training are being referred to the agenda of contemporary computer-aided medicine.According to some key technologies of spinal surgery,we focus on the research of CT image pre-processing,three-dimensional data reconstruction,vertebral separation and spinal collision detection.After that,a computer virtual spinal correction surgery platform which bases on those theories is built.This research work is supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China,Main tasks are as following:1.For the characteristic of vertebral CT image,we pre-process the image sequences by filtering,enhancing and binarizating.Comparing to the traditional median filter,the new Optimized method not only eliminates the noise and enhances the image edge information, but also improves the computing efficiency.2.The common algorithm of the surface rendering and volume rendering methods are studied and realized in this paper so that precise operating objects are provided for vertebral separation and virtual correction.3.Considering the problem encountered in the process of vertebral separation,a separation algorithm for automatic identification of the vertebra is proposed.This algorithm takes three-dimensional reconstruction volume data as its input,and it could directly separate each vertebra module with the similar gray value from data spinal without artificial selection of seed points.4.Realized the collision detection.The implementation process of the OBB algorithm is studied detailedly through analyzing the existing collision detection techniques and the characteristics of rigid spine.5.Based on the above research,the primary version of computer virtual correction of spinal surgery platform called "VRSpineRe1.0" is developed with the functionalities of CT image pre-processing,three-dimensional reconstruction of volume data,spinal tissue separation and collision detection.The virtual correction platform makes the dream which allows simulating the surgical procedures factually and repeatedly before the implementation of the physical come true.So that this platform not only improves the surgical success rate and accuracy,but also reduces operation cost.This research work is supported by "The National Natural Science Foundation of China (Fund Number:60871097)".
