Web services, as the core technology of the SOA, has strong ability to support the distributed and heterogeneous enterprise-class Web applications' composition or cooperation because of its dynamic and cross-platform ability. WS-BPEL can merge several isolated Web services into an integrated business process through the service interface. However, WS-BPEL engine is needed to integrate the different services and to implement the complex process. Nowadays, there are few Web services composition execution engines supporting WS-BPEL standard, which support the WS-BPEL 2.0 standard are even less. According to this situation, this thesis proposes a Web services composition execution engine which supporting the WS-BPEL 2.0 standard based on the research of present BPEL engines.This thesis contains the following aspects:1. Description of Web services technology in brief. This thesis mainly introduces the definition and characteristics of Web services, emphatically analyzes the Web service core protocol and system architecture, summarizes the concept, types and methods of Web service composition and analyzes the importance of the Web services composition in the construction of business process.2. Description of Business process definition language in brief. The prevalent business process definition languages have been analyzed and contrasted. WS-BPEL has also been researched deeply, including its model, activities and features. The changes of WS-BPEL standard has also been summarized by contrast of the WS-BPEL 2.0 and BPEL4WS1.1.3. Design of Web services composition execution engine based on the WS-BPEL. A framework of layered WS-BPEL engine has been proposed. The designing idea of the engine's modules is presented.4. Web services composition execution engine based on the WS-BPEL has been implemented using Java EE technologies. It has been proven that the engine has sufficient capacity to satisfy the enterprise's requirements with high efficiency.
