Research On Campus Network Traffic Monitor And Analysis

With the rapid development of network technologies, networks are becoming more and more complicated as the scales of networks are expanding. New applications are emerging and the heterogeneity of networks is deepening. It is necessary to monitor traffic in real time and manage networks on-line. Network traffic measurement and monitoring is one of the most important methods to understand network traffic characteristics. Through network monitoring, we can analyze key applications of network, understand user behavior to using network, such as how often, how many and when. And also, we can find network abnormal, detect network congestion, warning Denial of Service Attacks, and implement troubleshooting and recover of network fault by traffic monitoring. This thesis investigate related works on network traffic monitoring, analysis deeply some of the challenge problems on traffic flow monitoring and analysis, proposed and implemention some ideas and methods. At the end, using the achievement of the thesis, we design and implement a integrative network measurement and analysis system. The main work is described as follows:1) The dissertation studies network traffic measurement about definition, purpose and basic theory, analyze and compare the network traffic monitoring of the basic methods, summed up the current traffic characteristics analysis methods commonly used.2) Designed and implemented the programme for the campus network traffic monitoring and analysis. Including the investigation of the Hunan University campus network traffic monitoring and analysis needs , Hunan University campus network structure. On this basis, designed the test programme for campus network traffic characteristics, including an analysis of indicators of the design, the use of measurement tools, Overall programme design, deployment of measurement system. To achieve real-time monitoring the export traffic of Hunan University campus network, analysis the network equipment under test link the running, carrying business performance, different level of agreement with the flow of business performance.3) On this foundation,deployed the system in the export link of Hunan University campus network for monitoring, use of monitoring systems to network equipment for data collection, monitoring and analysis of the export link traffic of Hunan University, to understand network routers export of real-time flow of immigrants, Real-time outbound traffic, the average flow of network traffic peak hours, the day of the exit flow, and other relevant data, fully be aware of the agreement links the export and distribution of traffic characteristics.
