Bicoprime factorization description (BFD), which attracts much attention from the 1980s, is broader than left-coprime factorization description and right-coprime factorization description. In this paper, how to design the controller of bicoprime factorization description systems is studied. The main results are as follows:1. A controller design algorithm is given based on polynomial matrix description (PMD),and by making use of the relation between ranks of matrix decompositions, the dimension of the designed controller is evaluated.2. The controller design algorithm of bicoprime factorization description is given, and the parameterization of all the controllers is presented. The pole assignment is considered in the realization of the algorithm.3. After the research of the regular square systems, the controller design of rectangular systems is also considered. The problem is equivalently converted into corresponding problem of regular square systems via some transformation. And then the parameters of the controller are calculated.4. Through equivalent transformation and the regularization theory, the problem of how polynomial matrix description transforming to the stability rational fraction matrix description is resolved. At last, the controller design for systems with disturbance is concerned.
