In many aspects of industrial production,we need precise tension control toguarantee constant tension for improving the quality of the products. Inspired by thefact, a set of experimental apparatus of multiple machine rack drawbench is developedand designed,and the mathematical model for this system is established, based onwhich a optimum control strategy is exploited whose performance is thendemonstrated by both simulation and experiment results.First of all, on the basis of the analysis of the classical vector control scheme forthe inductive motor, the control strategy used in the practical converter is identified asrotor field oriented control approach through comparison of the simulation andexperimental results; therefore the corresponding mathematical model is establishedfor single transducer-motor configuration. Second, the transducer used for indirectfeedback of tension—the linear regulator is modeled based on the principle of thedrawing process as well as the geometric relationship. Third, the above two parts arecombined to establish the mathematical model of the multiple rack drawbench system.To achieve the control objective of minimal tension vibration in the drawingprocess, the thesis proposes an optimal control scheme which guarantees that thesteady state error will asymptotically go to zero. Furthermore, the optimal solution isapproximated properly, leading to a controller which can be implemented in practicefrom an engineering point of view. Finally, experiments are conducted to verify thatthe proposed technique shows superior performance than general PID controller inpresence of various disturbances.
