Measurement of phase volume fraction is very important in many industrial cases, especially the oil exploration and transportation. Since the environment of oil exploration is complex and the property of each component is different, few approaches have good practicability so far.The goal of this paper is to implement the measurement of phase volume fraction for a kind of low-oil oil/water two phase flow. The state of the art in two-phase detection technology, both at home and abroad, are discussed, then some of the existing measurement technology of phase volume fraction for two phase flow are introduced, in which the heat diffusion based one is further studied. Factors affect the rate calculation in this case are focus on, then the key point, the temperature difference measurement of heater, which could improve the measurement accuracy of oil-bearing rate is summarized.The selection of heater and temperature sensor are accomplished based on literature survey and experimental study. The structure of hardware and software is completed based on the platinum resistance and the DS18B20, in which the precise method for oil heat capacity is well studied. The heat diffusion based measurement system of phase volume fraction for two-phase flow is established.Best measurement position of the temperature sensor in this system, which is 500mm from the end of the heater, is confirmed based on the combination of the Fluent simulation of the thermal field in pipe and the practical flow research. Also, the measurement scheme of phase volume fraction for heat diffusion oil/water two-phase flow is further enriched.Extensive experiments are performed based on the above construction work. TheĀ±5% measuring absolute error controlling of oil volume fraction, which is the original design goal of this paper, is basically achieved by improving the experimental condition, enhancing the temperature difference measurement technology and processing the error correction and so on.
