Using Social Software To Facilitate Tour Guide Learning

This thesis which consists of seven parts is intended to suggest that social software can facilitate the learning of tour guider by design, development, utilization and management of the recourses of social software. With the development of economy and knowledge, some new characters of tourism industry have begun to come forth. Tour guiders, as the important part of tourism human resource, have to face significant challenges. So, tour guiders should optimize their knowledge structure by different kinds of non-formal leaning in order to adapt the development of contemporary tourism industry. In recent years, social software, such as BBS, Blog, Wiki, has widely applied to our present life. The rise of application of social software is an indication that Internet is changing. Thus, there is a shift in Internet application model from Human– Computer to Human– Human interface. The social software simulates the human relation network of the real society in the Internet, which established the new model for social communication and knowledge diffusion and creation.Based on the social software, this thesis introduces and summarizes the concept, domain, relevant theories, and application situation of social software. Taking the knowledge structure of tour guider as the analysis start point, the author works on finding out the role of the social software in the personal knowledge acquisition and management for the tour guider by doing needs analysis. Following the analysis, the author reveals the model, which based on BBS + free community, of the blended self-directed learning system for tour guider.In the last part of the thesis, following ADDIE instructional system design process, the writer designs, develops, implements, and evaluated the tour guider learning system based on social software by Discuz, X-Space/SupeSite and UCenter home.
