Synthetic Impulse and Aperture Radar (SIAR) is a new type of radar using metric wavelength and sparse array. The outstanding feature of SIAR is isotropic radiation by adopting orthogonal frequency-coding (synthetic pulse) and multiple antennas (synthetic aperture). Its transmitting beam is formed by the pulse synthesis and its receiving beam is formed by digital beam forming (DBF). Combining with a research project, pulse synthesis process and implementation of SIAR is studied in this thesis.Firstly, the theoretical knowledge applied to the project, including the digital pulse compression technology, the basic principle of SIAR, the pulse synthesis (space-time 3D matched filtering),the DBF and the design of waveform of SIAR, are given by detailed introduction, analysis and simulation; The reasonable pulse comprehensive parameter is given out by the above analysis result; Then, considering the need of scientific research, a kind of radar signal processing general board based on TigerSHARC(ADSP-TS101) is designed. Combining with this board, the software development of digital beam forming, digital pulse compression and pulse synthesis of"a ship-borne radar signal processing subsystem"is finished; Meanwhile, the data processing flow and the data processing timing sequence of these modules are carried by detailed explanation and analysis. Finally the contrast between the software simulation result and the project experimental result is given out.
