Along with the significant development of science and technology, and the coming of information era,the transmission of information is becoming more and more important. Optical-fiber,as one of the many transmitting medias.has a number of advantages that cannot be substituted.High-capacity and wide-bandwidth and strong anti jamming capability are all its characteristics. The technology of WDM combined with EDFA can take full advantage of the capability of fibers, being a optimum method to realize high-capacity, long-haul, high-speed communications.For the long time, the attenuation, dispersion and nonlinearity of fibers are three major limitations to fiber communication systems. Because of using EDFA, the attenuation of fibers was already not an important transmission limitation. At the same time, dispersion managements and dispersion-supported techniques can be used to improve WDM system performances effectly. However,following the number of channels in the optical fiber increased, nonlinear effect of fiber has already to be an important factor which affect the performance of system. Therefore, studying on the transmission system of multichannel WDM that with attenuation, dispersion and nonlinearity effects exist can help to augment fiber capacity and improve the communication quality.This has absolutely significant theoretical and practical meanings.This article discussed the origin and characteristic of each kind of optical fiber nonlinear effect, also the influence to WDM system transmission performance.The non-linear effect (XPM, FWM and SRS) to the multichannel WDM optical fiber transmission system performance's influence was researched. And these impacts of these types of nonlinear effect were simulated. The diagram which can be used estimate the impact of these types of nonlinear effect was obtained. The plan and the suggestion which inhibit these impacts had been proposed in the paper.
