The Research Of Protective Data Container Based On ARM-Linux

Voyage Data Recorder (VDR) is an equipment which can record ship navigation status and manipulation information. It takes an important role on safety and trouble analysis of the sea voyage. The massive data of VDR needs to be saved rapidly and reliably, because it is the key basis for analyzing the accident. Therefore, the research and design of reliable Protective Data Container (PDC) become an important constituent of VDR.The embedded linux has a stable and efficient kernel with the trait of open source and abundant material, so it has been one of the most popular choice of the embedded system developers. Samba, an open resource software, accords with the same SMB protocol as Microsoft and the IBM operating system's. And a UNIX host machine can be camouflaged as a Windows server to provides the sharing service. As a Samba server, PDC provides the stable data storage and the sharing service. So the client on the ethernet can access the data on the PDC without an additional software.This paper aims at building a network storage and sharing platform based on embedded Linux and providing technology for the multi-purpose protective containers. Firstly the paper introduces the background and significance of the PDC. Then the hardware system is designed according to the analysis of the PDC system's hardware and software needs. After the analysis of the embedded Linux operating system's principles and advantages, the Linux platform is constructed. Then the paper expatiates how to establish and configure the samba server in detail. At last this article briefly introduces the design of the IDE driver.
