A Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is a multi-hop, decentralized processing, self-configuring communication network consisted by a group of nodes which can be regarded as either a terminal computer or a router. It works without relying on the pre-existing network infrastructure and the nodes in MANET are almost supported by batteries, once the node's energy exhausted, it can neither work normally nor relay the data pass it, and the whole network may be influenced by that. Thus, we should take the nodes' average energy-remain into account. In this thesis we firstly introduce the technology of MANET and summarize the network's energy protected mechanism , then especially analyse the energy-awared route in network layer. Then we describe CBEAR (Cluster Based Energy Awared Routing) as an improve scheme of DSR (Dynamic Source Routeing), it considers equity of network and aimed at making the network life time longer. Based on the partition of network into clusters, this scheme inherits DSR"s find route and route cache mechanism. At the same time, it takes the nodes' energy-remain as an important parameter both in choosing cluster head and choosing route, this can alleviate the low energy-remain node's burden and put off the moment of energy exhaust. This thesis, we executes two experiments in NS2-2.30 networking simulation platform, and find CBEAR will neither extend the delay of transmission nor reduce the ratio of data successfully received by comparing with DSR. Under those two conditions it can put off the moment of the nodes' energy exhaust effectively. Through simulation experiments we confirm that CBEAR is valid and feasible. Finally, we give the conclusion of our work and suggest some relate work need a farther research in Mobile Ad hoc Network.
