| Optical disk plays an important role on date storage system due to its high capability, low cost, fast transmission rate and excellent controllability. With the hot demand of date storage system, there is an increasing room for the development of optical disk drive. The research of motor driver is becoming one of the most attractive projects. But for the optical disk drive, the core part of the motor driver chip is rarely involved in the domestic research, and most of industry mainly focuses on the applications of periphery circuit IC instead. So the development of optical disk drive IC has an important practical significance.A motor driver circuit for optical disk is designed in this thesis. It includes two current-mode controlled channel(Tracking Channel and Focus Channel) and two voltage-mode controlled channel(Loading Channel and Sled Channel).Sled channel is capable of differential inputs. The input range is from-0.3V to 11V with a 12V supply voltage, and output swing ranges from 0.1V to 9V. The adopted techniques are supply voltage separation, second-generation current conveyor(CCII), and optional input means, etc. Because the output stage adopts the inductance coil, the angulate coil is used to solve the problem of return current. The circuit also has a built-in over-temperature protection and standby mode function.Based on the principle analysis and circuit design in the beginning chapters, all the sub-block circuit and whole chip circuit are simulated by applying EDA tools HSPICE and CADENCE. As is well-known, due to the various process variations involved in the semiconductor fabrication, the tolerance of the device of the chosen process should be carefully considered. The simulation results show that presented design agrees with the specifications of system. |
