Globally, the current main trends of 3G Mobile Communication System are mainly WCDMA, CDMA2000 and TD-SCDMA. Among them, TD-SCDMA is the 3G mobile communicate standard that with the intellectual property of, and brought forward by, China. Therefore, to develop TD-SCDMA system in China has unique technology and resource advantages. As TD-SCDMA is our national standard, foreign research and investment in the field is obvious insufficient, therefore, we must insist on the principle of independent research and development. Under the background of the country encouraging to innovate independently and to possess independent intellectual property, TD-SCDMA has presented a strong development momentum. Particularly in recent years commercialized speed was obviously sped up. It is estimated that 5 years will be needed for TD-SCDMA entering a maturation period, that is to say, the future five years will be the key period for R & D from now on. Accordingly, research on network construction mode of TD-SCDMA system will be practically significant for its maturity and commercialization.The paper makes introduction on 3G Mobile Communication System, TD-SCDMA system and its network construction, analyses the system and UTRAN basic structure, and also makes introduction on key technologies, core network, intelligent network, system characteristics and the like applied in TD-SCDMA system.The impact of key technology on system performance is made in the paper. The impact of frame, intelligent antenna, joint detection and DCA on the system coverage and of intelligent antenna, joint detection, DCA, relay switch and N frequency points on the system capacity are discussed respectively.The paper makes research on independent networking and hybrid networking of TD-SCDMA system and analyses their networking strategy. On independent networking, a detailed discussion is focused on the possible modes of TD-SCDMA, which include first primary them secondary, first secondary then primary, and thin pie mode, and also their relative merits are compared. On hybrid networking, a detailed discussion is focused on the four possible networking modes, i.e., solutions that TD-SCDMA overlaps on WCDMA network, TD-SCDMA and WCDMA are complementary and WCDMA realizes rural/suburban/undeveloped region, TD-SCDMA and WCDMA are complementary and TD-SCDMA realizes rural/suburban/undeveloped region, and simultaneously set up two networking of WCDMA and TD-SCDMA, also relative merits of independent and hybrid modes are compared. It comes to a conclusion that the solution that, TD-SCDMA and WCDMA are complementary and TD-SCDMA realizes rural/suburban/undeveloped region, has a minor risk and is more executable. At present this solution is more feasible.Since harmony development of the two systems exists in hybrid networking, in actual job you may face some problems such as terminal developing, frequency interference. Although TD-SCDMA is to cover in remote cities, there is still large area to be covered, risk factors faced to it is still essential. As TD-SCDMA has no way to realize entire coverage, WCDMA/TD-SCDMA double mode mobile telephone becomes a necessary for marketplace. The two 3G networks will bring very big problems to post-operating, so business operators should make research on them in depth and reserve the related talents.On the basis of this paper, and incorporated with 3G network development trend, we should strengthen the research, development and improvement on double modes or three modes mobile telephone, intelligent antenna, test software and instrument, promote the maturity of TD-SCDMA industry chain and speed up 3G network construction of our own intellectual property of China.
