Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) has the advantages of high magnet density, small torque pulse, big torque-inertia ratio, high efficiency, simple construct and so on. PMSM has been applied to the occasions that requires high precision of control and high reliability far and wide, such as navigation, numerical control machine tool, radar and some military weapons follow systems, robot and so on.Sliding-mode variable structure control which sliding mode can be designed is insensitive to system uncertainties and external disturbance, and has the advantages of good robustness, fast response, easiness to achieve and so on. Accordingly, it's hopeful to design a control strategy of high quality by applying sliding mode control (SMC) to the control of PMSM servo system. This paper mainly researches the application of FSMC to PMSM control.This paper consists of six parts:①The paper summarily introduces the development courses of AC servo system and status quo of control technique in AC servo system. The background of the direction for studying in this paper, the main research content of the paper and the significance of studying are introduced.②The paper describes basic structure and categories of PMSM, and summarily introduces the composition and principle of permanent magnet AC servo system. Then the mathematical model of PMSM is presented which is based on the study of the physical equation, torque equation and motion equation.③The paper expounds the basic theory of sliding variable structure control, causes of the chattering and how to decrease chattering, and summarily introduces design methods of sliding mode controller. In accordance with the requirements of AC servo system, conventional sliding mode controller based on the exponential approach law is designed.④The paper expounds the basic theory of fuzzy control, analyses its characteristic and applicable scope, and summarily introduces design methods of fuzzy controller. Based on the conventional sliding mode controller, fuzzy sliding mode controller is designed, using fuzzy controller to adjust the parameters of the exponential approach law to decrease sliding mode controller inherent chattering. At the same time, parameters of fuzzy controller were optimized by genetic algorithms in order to obtain high control quality.⑤In order to test the feasibility of control algorithm, the control algorithm simulation models are established in Matlab/Simulink simulation environment. The simulation results of research indicate the fuzzy sliding controller based on genetic algorithm has fast response, high control precision, and chattering can be decreased, while maintaining sliding mode control's robustness.⑥Finally, the main research contents of total paper are summarized, main research conclusions are given, and the insufficiency of this paper and research emphases in the future are pointed out.
