The Research Of Ontology Mapping System Based On Concepts Similarity

Ontology is a philosophical concept originally, and it describes the natures of objects. Afterwards, scientific researchers introduced ontology into other fields such as artificial intelligence, information system, knowledge system and so on, so ontology has new meanings. But their understanding of ontology is consistent, they all treat ontology as semantic foundation during the communication between different main bodies, the purpose of ontology they thought is consistent: to catch the knowledge of relational domain, provide the common understanding of this domain, confirm the glossary approved in this domain and give explicit definition about the relation of these glossaries from different level formalized pattern.Because there is not a common criterion for building ontology, so great deals of different ontologies are constructed in the same domain, there are a lot of different ontologies even in a small domain. These ontologies are heterogeneous. Ontology mapping can solve the problem of ontological heterogeneity.This paper studies the ontology mapping methods, analyzes their characteristics and found some problems existed: low versatility, not comprehensive similarity computing method and not perfect ontology mapping frame. Existed ontology mapping method is used in concrete application ontology and can not adapt environment change. The frame in existed ontology mapping method is to find concepts mapping relation but not properties mapping relation.But in some application, properties mapping is also very useful. Concepts similarity computing is the key of ontology mapping, the concepts similarity computing method is not perfect in existed ontology mapping researches. They tended to consider the one of the concept information to compute similarity, and also the concepts similarity computing researches based on properties is not embedded.This paper designed a new ontology mapping system frame, properties mapping was included in this frame. In this paper, a synthetical concepts similarity computing method was used, information that affects the similarity computing such as the concept definition itself, the properties of the concept, the instances of the concept, the structure relationship were fully considered. And it designed a new properties mapping method which in this method data type properties and object type properties are all considered.Finally in this paper the archetypal system was realized in the basic of the frame and the similarity computing method.
