Research And Development Of ITU-T G.729EV Speech Codec Based On C54x DSPs

Speech communication is one of the essentialest human communication manners. Speech transmission is one of the most important core functions. With the rapid development of mobile communication, speech processing technique is continuously updating. In the speech communication, it is necessary to use speech compression encoder and decoder to transmit speech signal effectively.ITU-T G.729EV is a new speech compression encoder and decoder recently. ITU-T G.729EV is extended on ITU-T G.729 codec. It is a new recommendation of variable rates wideband speech codec. The codec can make a variable rates encoder and decoder of the speech and audio signal with a rate range of 8 to 32 kbps.The way based on the DSPs to achieve the speech compression encoder and decoder has the some advantages over other realization manners, such as convenient realization, easy to updating program. So, combined with the practical project, this thesis works on realizing the ITU-T G.729EV Codec on the C54x DSP platform.The main works of the thesis are as follows:(1) Analyse the basic principles of the ITU-T G.729EV Codec, including speech encoder and decoder, and some function modules of codec.(2) Explain the TI TMS320C54x DSP platform, including hardware structure, software developement environment and code optimazation techniques.(3) Realize the ITU-T G.729EV Codec on the C54x DSP platform and test the its performance.The experiments results illustrate that the ITU-T G.729EV Codec implemented on the C54x DSP has higher running efficiency.
