Most paver control system in practice is based on conventional PID control algorithm, which regulates three parameters to reach anticipated goal. It is very hard to operate on the spot and the object parameters may change because of the change of working environment or outside disturbances, so the parameters have to be regulated again, and the paving efficiency is reduced.In order to reduce the difficulty of regulating parameters and considering the paver's characters of non-linear, delay and time-changing, this paper focuses on the control algorithm of auto leveling system and introduces direct self-tuning regulator algorithm, through analyzing the leveling system, it indicates that driving system and distributing system are the major factors that influence the leveling system, and both of them are added to leveling system as feed front disturbances. Firstly, we use conventional PID algorithm to control the system and get simulation results under different cases such as changing parameters and changing orders and so on; secondly, we adopt self-tuning regulator algorithm, and identify the system delay using method of loss function and get the results under the self-tuning regulator control algorithm; we use filter algorithm to solve the problem of control value's vibration, and study the crashing problem when simulating and give out the concrete solution; Lastly, we use feed front-feed back control method to compensate the system's disturbances.Through Matlab/Simulink experiment, it indicates that direct self-tuning regulator algorithm can better trace the change of set signal, and it has very good self-adaptive ability to the change of the system parameters, most of all, its regulation process is simple and convenient, and compared with PID algorithm, self-tuning regulator algorithm has better performance; adding power average filter algorithm can effectively solve the problem of control value's vibration; through plenty of experiments, it indicates that reasonably selecting the value of oblivion factor is the precondition of the system's stabilization; front feed back control can well compensate the disturbance to auto leveling system.
