Pulse compression radar has the advantages of high resolution, far detection distance and strong anti-noise ability, therefore, it is preferred in electronic counter field. The Doppler effects on pulse compression radar and the Doppler frequency compensation problems of pulse compression radar are mainly studied.The theory of the most common linear frequency modulation pulse compression radar and biphase coded pulse compression radar is introduced at first, and the time and frequency characteristic of the signals is analyzed. Based on the basic theory, the Doppler effects on linear frequency modulation pulse compression radar and biphase coded pulse compression radar are analyzed theoretically and deduced mathematically. And the effects are validated by matlab simulation.For the ranging bias due to the Doppler coupling of the linear frequency modulation pulse compression radar, two Doppler compensation algorithms are presented. Up-down frequency modulation compensation algorithm compensates the Doppler effects by waveforms. Frequency estimation algorithm compensates the Doppler effects based on the cross-correlation characteristic. For the Doppler sensitivity of biphase coded pulse compression radar, three Doppler compensation algorithms are discussed. Constructed code compensation algorithm eliminates the Doppler effects by the multiplication of neighboring sub-pulse signals. Interpolation compensation algorithm compensates the Doppler effects after recovering Doppler signal from echo by Interpolation. Double code compensation algorithm cancels the Doppler effects between echoes.All the Doppler compensation algorithms are analyzed theoretically and simulated in matlab. The results show the algorithms effective. Moreover, the noise effect on those algorithms is studied. Finally, Up-down frequency modulation compensation algorithm and Double code compensation algorithm are regarded to have more practicability.
