Optical space communication has been as a kind of very good wireless communica-tion means, since the laser appears, so numerous scholars have done it with the research on the experiment & in theory. Compared with microwave communication, optical space communication has more advantages: much greater communication capability, narrow beam, good direction, much greater power density functions, lesser antenna size and sys-tem masses, and high capability of anti-electromagnetic disturbances. Because of its high function-price ratio, under the condition of transmitting same information and same data rate, it is very fit for high data transmission ratio between satellite and satellite, satellite and space shuttle. So the developed nations pay important attention to optical space com-munication research, development and deployment.The paper discusses the space laser communication advantages, applications and re-search space laser communication significance, then introduces research results of the countries in space laser communication, the application foreground as well as develop-ment trend about the space laser communication are discussed. Then the main structure, integral parts and detailed work process of space laser communication are narrated, espe-cially, the system design should pay attention to the key technologies and the key points are discussed. Then describes the atmospheric decaying and atmospheric turbulence, dop-pler effects and the impact of noise, on the basis this conclusion, combine communication theory to design channel model.In this paper, the channel model for optical space communication is built. Channel model of space laser communication system have three parts: optical pulse transmission model, background noise model and statistical model. In optical pulse transport model, the angular spreading of light beam and path transmission are studied, the formulas of mean received optical power of signal pulse are derived. In background noise model, the trans-port of starlight optical sources are studied, the formulas of mean received optical power of background noises are derived. Statistical model describes statistical characteristics of received optical field. The simulation part according to the theoretical channel model, de-tail description the channel module simulation design details, and then design the software flowchart, finally output the simulation result waveform and the results analysis.
