With the development of the infrared imaging technology, infrared imaging system has a wide application in modern world. Infrared imaging system developed from uncooled infrared imaging system to cooled infrared imaging system. Staring infrared imaging system based on the Infrared Focal Plane Array (IRFPA) technology has become a main trend of development in the field of infrared imaging system. Unfortunately, it is well known that the performance of the staring IR imaging system is mostly affected by IRFPA's spatial photoresponse nonuniformity and non-effective pixels (or dead/noisy pixels) . This dissertation is arranged around nonuniformity problems in the IRFPA, discussed nonuniformity correction algorithm and non-effective pixels detection/compensation algorithm for IRFPA. For the nonuniformity in IRFPA, we discussed calibration-based nonuniformity correction techniques, compared two-points correction algorithm and multi-points correction algorithm. According to the nonuniformity in the IRFPA, multi-points correction algorithm is better than two-points correction algorithm. But multi-points correction algorithm has a large computation and need a complex system, so we need to select proper points to correct nonuniformity. The non-effective pixels include device rank and signal channel rank. We bring up a new non-effective detection algorithm. This algorithm can get threshold easier and use recursion method to detect all non-effective pixels in the IRFPA. Meanwhile we use compensation among the ranks algorithm to correct the non-effective pixels. At last, we get a infrared image after correction system.
