IRFPA is widely used in infrared imaging technology, it makes the application of infrared technology becomes wider and wider. But because of the limits of the detector's materials and the manufacturing technology, the IRFPA has inherent disadvantage which is called nonuniformity. This causes the reduction of the distinguish ability of the image and greatly limits the infrared image quality. So nonuniformity correction is one of the key technologies in the application of IRFPA.In this paper, firstly introduced the development of infrared thermal imaging technique, analyzed the engendered reasons of infrared nonuniformity. Then, it researched some main methods of nonuniformity correction. Finally, it choose two-point nonuniformity correction as the algorithm to implement by using FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array). In this paper, it uses the Verilog HDL language to design and realize the two-point nonuniformity correction. The results shows that the proposed method is able to processing the real-time nonuniformity correction of infrared image, and it is easy to implement by hardware circuit and clear infrared image can be acquired. The results also shows that it can effectively suppressing the nonuniformity of the device and it is able to enhancing and improving the infrared image quality.
