Wireless Local Area Networks(WLAN) based on IEEE802.11g is a new and booming branch in data communication, which has a promising future. Among the WLAN networks, the Access Point(AP) is the most important device, and its performance would affect the range and throughput of the network greatly. Therefore, the research on this device is of great significance for WLAN system. Ethernet passive optical network (EPON) is emerging access network technology that provides a low-cost method of deploying optical access lines between a carrier's central office and a customer site.Wireless access over EPON transmission system is designed in our project, Which can provide the access of "the last 100 metres" in FTTH. Our system can make use of HFC in Community Antenna Television (CATV).The RF signal of network can be mixed with the CATV signal, and they can be transmitted together. Then the signals will be separated by a filter, so user can connect to The Internet without twisted-pair.The IEEE802.11 protocol and the architecture of WLAN are investigated, and the scheme of implementation is concluded. First of all, summarize the requirement analysis, then choose a general hardware platform based on ARM. In implement part,the hardware and software development process are also presented. 88W8510H microprocessing unit from Marvell is used as the hardware design platform, and its model block of hardware and software development hiberarchy are introduced. Finally the system's test scheme and result are presented at the end of this paper.
