With the development of computer, network, communications and multimedia technology, the embedded system has become a new focus and orientation in IT field following the step of computer and network technology. Still, with the development of video codec, the IP Camera developed a lot and was widely used in surveillance, video conference and many other areas.An IP Camera system realizing the video decoder in the platform of DSP (TMS320DM642) is designed and implemented. This system is very small and it runs fast and stably, it could let people communicate fluently in high definition image. This system has great reference value for wide application use.The hardware is the base of the system. With the introduction of hardware architecture of the system, the details of how to design the system is introduced. Also, how to setup and configure the CCS IDE provided by TI is introduced before the introduction of software design.Driver development has a key role and is very important in the system development. Based on introducing the hardware and driver architecture, taking VPORT Minidriver, WatchDog, UART driver and Bootloader as an example, the driver development process on DSP is described in details.Finally, the hardware and driver module is tested through testing program. It is proved well and can widely used in real project.
