With the development of science and technology and the improvement of people's living standards, customers are not satisfied with the ordinary home electrical appliances. Their consciousness of self-protection are also enhanced. Digital home and 3C may melt together, three networks(telecom network, computer network and digital television network) may become interconnected, home equipments may be used to provide personalized service for customers, home digitalization and intellectualization has become a major research topic today.In this paper, with the background of the industrialized development of digital home for remote security-monitoring in our country and the propulsion of "action plan of digital home in Guangdong province", further research is done on the basis of a security service platform designed for NGN(Next Generation Network)to get a type of remote digital home security terminals with openness, generality, and security. This paper mainly discusses the following aspects:First, this paper introduces the choice of components and design of hardware.Considering the characteristics, cost and features of security terminals, S3C4510(arm7) is chosen. This chip has a built-in serial port and a network port. Peripherals to be added are: LCD display, simple keyboard, DTMF autodial set, wireless receiving device (receiving alarm signals of all kinds of wireless probes, such as door magnets and smoke sensors), 10/100M four-ports switch controller. The memory configuration is: EEPROM connected by I~2C bus with S3C4510(for storing parameters configured though keyboard), 2M flash, 32-bit 32M memory SDRAM composed by two 16-bit chips.Second, this paper realizes the BootLoader Programming andμClinux implanting.Considering system performance and cost, open-sourceμClinux is chosen as the operating system. Before implanting, BootLoader is prepared for some special function registers in the processor to initialize hardware and establish the memory space map. In this way, the hardware and software can enter into a suitable state, a proper situation can be established for the call of the operating system kernel later. Third, this paper analyzes the design of hardware drivers.In this paper, some hardware drivers are analyzed and researched, such as the driver of built-in S3C4510 Ethernet controller port and the driver of graphics dot-matrix LCD display. Keyboard driver and I~2C EEPROM driver have been successfully developed.In the last, this paper researches the design and research of typical applications.In this paper, the DHCP(Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) application, which acquires IP addresses automatically, is researched and implemented. In addition, the fetch of dot-matrix word set of LCD display is introduced, and the importance of Watchdog in applications is also studied.
