As an absolutely necessarily part of the teaching in universities and colleges, experimental teaching is rather important to train and promote professional skills and abilities for students majored in mechatronics. It helps to educate students and professionals that skilled both in academic and technique to meet the needs of the society. So that, the experimental teaching devices related are vital importance to reach these goals.This paper presents a type of experimental teaching system on the applications of measurement and control techniques that controlled by a PC and a motion controller together by using several kinds of sensors that commonly used in mechatronics field. The system is designed to help teachers and students majored in mechatronics and related specialties in colleges and universities teach and learn the measurement and control related courses better. First, the general situation of the applications of the measurement and control technology used in mechatronics industry is introduced in the paper. Meanwhile, the current circumstances of being short of the experimental teaching systems on measurement and control topics in China are analyzed. On this condition, a scheme of a new type of experimental teaching system is born. And the general situations of the system are discussed and designed.Second, the hardware of the whole system is designed and integrated in details based on the successful experiences we've gotten before. The mechanism unit, the drive units, the sensors and the control unit are well shown one by one in the paper. Meanwhile, the control methods and the function of each unit of the hardware is analyzed based on the research of the electrical control unit.Third, some of the experiments set for the system are given as examples together with the software modules to show the applications of the system and to discus the theory and knowledge that concerned with the system. A servo motor control module, an open loop, half closed loop and closed loop control module, a servo control module and an application of photoelectric switch module are interpreted, and the purpose, the composing, the principle and the process of each experiment are well explained respectively.
