With the advantage of simplicity, low price, good interoperability and easy usage, the Ethernet technology has become one kind of the most popular LAN technologies. Whether in office, in family or in the field of access network, it has been used widely. However, with the formation of new high speed Ethernet technical standard, especially the augmentation of 10Gbit/s Ethernet work distance to 40km, the Ethernet technology is no longer confined to LAN, and can gradually be applied to the construction of network with large scale and long distance, such as MAN or even WAN.Based on the research project"HiNOC(High performance Network over Coax) Access Technology Research", this paper begins with the introduction of design scheme on Access Network of Broadcasting and Television device, HiNOC Switching and HiNOC Bridge , and discusses how to apply Ethernet switching technology to these devices. In this paper, the circuit implementation and driver program of of switching modules are realized. In practice testing, good performance shows that the software has been well designed.Then, from analysis of problems being confronted when apply Ethernet technology to WAN interconnection and aiming at the fast protection and recovery, this paper puts forward a layered protection reference model which is propitious to Ethernet WAN and makes a brief introduction of each protection mechanism that can be used by it. In addition, a 1:1 link protection mechanism is designed, which needs introduce a link selection sublayer between MAC silent layer and MAC layer (or optional MAC Control sublayer),and it can provide fast protection for Ethernet WAN through redundant link. Finally, this paper briefly analyzes how can the Ethernet WAN support circuit service, and summarizes the main technology challenges confronted by circuit emulation over Ethernet WAN, and particularly introduces the methods of service clock synchronization of circuit emulation over Ethernet WAN. |
