Image Base Rendering (IBR) relies on a set of two-dimensional images of a scene to generate novel views of the scene from new viewpoints. This technique has received more and more attention as a good alternative to the traditional model-based techniques because of its high rendering speed and realistic rendering results. Tour into the picture (TIP) is a new image rendering technique, which coarsely reconstructs the 3D scene based on a single image and generates walk trough animation of the scene. In TIP, some potential geometric information is obtained through user interaction instead of more than one sample images. This paper generated walk through animation from a single image based on TIP technique and made use of vanishing points in the image to facilitate the scene reconstruction. In this paper, vanishing points are detected based on Hough transform in Gaussian sphere space and a proper peek detection algorithm, followed by camera parameters calculation based on vanishing points, finally, we solved the problem of distortion in texture mapping. In 1st chapter of this paper, virtual reality and IBR is introduced and our work is also introduced in brief.Chapter 2 is a review of research on scene touring techniques.Chapters 3 to 5 elaborate on the theories and algorithms of each module of the system, including vanishing point detection, camera calibration, 3D reconstruction and texture mapping and show the results.Chapters 6 and 7 are conclusions and finished by some ideas on the future work.
