The prominent drawback of existing Web service is shorting of semantic meaning. The distributed register provided by the Web service industry standard UDDI could do the processes of the service management, the service registration and the service discovery. The shortcoming of above method is the wanting flexibility of service description and the simple keywords retrieval adopted by the matching, so the demand of intelligentized service discovery could not be met. The semantic annotation to Web service is the key to solve the problem.In allusion to the above issues, using the SOA-based Web service as the object, the research work is related the technology of semantic Web service and the OWL-S description method of Web service.Firstly, the feasibility and the technical advantages of applying the semantic Web technology to Web service is discussed. Due to the retrieval model of semantic Web service proposed by foreign scholars does not take the differences between Chinese and Western languages into full consideration and the Chinese retrieval request needs the Chinese word segmentation in the process of retrieval, the OWL-S architecture of semantic Web service combining with the technology of Chinese word segmentation is necessary.Secondly, the OWL-S/UDDI retrieval model is established. In the OWL-S/UDDI retrieval model after semantic expanding, considering the characteristics of Chinese language, the Chinese retrieval request sentence has done the Chinese word segmentation and generated service request OWL-S documents though semantic expansion, consequently, the semantic retrieval is realized.Finally, the OWL-S applications of semantic Web service are expounded. The processes of semantic Web service publication and registration is analyzed on the basis of the existing OWL-S tools and the corresponding environment. The dynamical retrieval of Web services is realized combining the Chinese word segmentation with the semantic Web services technology, and the quality of Web service discovery has been impproved observably by semantic retrieval with publishing the semantic web service to the local register jUDDI. The management process of data flow of service composition is analyzed through the realization of composition experiment about string encryption and authentication, and on the basis of that the feasibility of Web service composition using semantic Web service technology has been validated.
