Shandong Province Grain Reserves Management Office put investment to build up "SGRMO Business Management Information Systems(G-MIS)".The Purpose is to reach the business target and to enhance its management level, by means of the computerized systems. The major goal of GMIS deployment is to enforce administrative regulations efficiently for dynamic and static management of national reserved grains, including purchase and sales, circulation and reserves, finance and asset management etc. As a milestone, it will combine the grain circulation financial calculations and information data as a whole for regulating the reserved grains.It is noted that, through the whole project design cycle including system requirement analyses and system modeling, Rational Unified Process or RUP is used as development tool to analyze and configure software development process; The Unified Modeling Language or UML is used as standard language for specifying, visualizing, constructing, and documenting the artifacts of software systems; J2EE is used as a programming and development platform. This paper will present analyses and design for System Administration Module, Planning Module, Statistics Module, Warehouse Management Module, Finance Module, Import and Export Module, Asset Management Module, Circulation and Reserves Module, Decision Support System (DSS) Module and so on.Based on the detailed analyses for the project background and MIS current status for enterprises internationally, this paper presents the major issue must be solved and presents the whole system descriptions. Further more, it gives the detailed requirement analyses and system architecture. To illustrate, some topical samples are used to show how system modules are designed and implemented. At the end of the paper, it describes the detailed design for the most difficult and important module, Data Exchange Module, to show the analyses and design method.In this paper, the following key issues are solved: First, there is a short of mutual and standard methodology for RUP and UML process in IT development work. As a result, different group of people have different point view from different angle. They have to spend more time to communicate and exchange ideas with each other, and the overall costs will be increased. In this paper, a combination method of RUP and traditional waterfall construction process, as well as UML and structural procedural languages introduced. This standardized software developing methodology in the team working environment.Second, there are two basic structures for large enterprise MIS, Centralized systems and Client/Server systems. A combination of the two will be introduced in the paper. To keep data flow and integrity, a special data exchange platform and special exchange method is presented.Third, in the system design, no single pointer failure architecture is adopted. High Availability cluster and SAN storage is used for mainframe matrix. Parallel and partitioned database will greatly increase the whole performance for this secured system.
