The micro-control of the light wave, quantum effects in atomic system and large-scale integrated optical circuits can be realized through micro-ring resonators referred recent years, which are of prospects and great application value in optical communication. Micro-ring resonators with proper parameters can change the input optical wavelength to get a new conjugated optical wavelength at out-port due to nonlinear effects, so they are of great potential and feasibility in all-optical communication wavelength conversion, optical switching and logic gates. In this dissertation, optical switching and logic gates'characteristics are analyzed, which is based on the particular introduction of fundamental information of micro-ring resonators and nonlinear effects.The main contents and innovations are as follows:1. The fundamental information of micro-ring resonators, nonlinear effects and development about optical switching and logic gates are introduced.2. Spaced sequence of micro-ring is introduced, in which second-hormonic generation (SHG) and soliton pulse are studied.3. Four-wave mixing (FWM) in all-pass micro-ring structure is analyzed with coupling matrix methods. The conversion efficiency of conjugated wave is calculated with differential equation theory; the simulated curve of conversion efficiency is obtained and the influence of each parameter is analyzed.4. The switching property is analysed, whose requirement to the input power and influence of different parameters on add-drop micro-ring structure are researched.5. Switching and logic gates characteristics of all-pass micro-ring structure are analyzed and effective phase shift is theoretically deduced. The good performance of micro-ring structure can be seen through numerical simulation.
