Along with the industrial automation enterprise development, the optical encoder application domain expands unceasingly. During the optical encoder production process, the analysis instrument for on-line examination optical encoder is very important; it controls the quality of optical encoder, and it can analyze the electrical character of optical encoder simultaneously. It is the key to quality control of optical encoder.This article starts with the principle of optical encoder, and under overall understanding of optical encoder, we have completed a series of works for design and application of the online electrical specification test and the appraisal instrument successfully. This instrument provides rotation linear range for 150r/m ~8000r/m, and its single channel sampling rate is up to 1.25MS/s. This instrument can show waveforms in three channels simultaneously, and make superimposition of the channels. The signal phase difference, peak-to-peak value range, dutyfactor size, frequency, phase parameter and dynamic characteristic in the A/B/Z various channels of the incremental optical encoder can be read out directly. The instrument can count the output pulse of optical encoder and make overall assessment of optical encoder. The research work of the paper has provided a new high means for the parameter adjustment, the performance examination and the quality control of incremental mode the encoder production.With the examination instrument this article makes four experiments which are helpful to understand the factors which could influence the optical encoder. This is meaningful to the production and application of optical encoder.
