There are many ways to implement image compression. Now, people are concerning the DSP-based system for its advantages, such as : off-line image as a system programmable, a good system scalability and equipment small in size, the advantages of flexible.This paper researched DSP-based image compression, stressed that the realization of hardware: analog camera to achieve image acquisition, using a dedicated chip Philips SAA7111 will be collected after the simulation of digital image data, the complex programmable logic devices CPLD (In this paper, EPM7128LC84-15 achieved) after decoding data storage, storage, data from the DSP (TMSVC5402) read to the DSP's internal RAM area compression algorithm processing, data processed by the DSP HPII transferred to the PC.
