Research And Design On Paper Currency Sorter

Collection, recognition and disposal of paper currency image are the key techniques in paper currency sorting system. It has a wide market prospect and development space especially in banks. The key point of studying the paper currency sorting system is the design of hardware circuit and high efficient recognition algorithm. The paper makes deep researches and discussions about the software and hardware design and development questions relating to collection, recognition and disposal of paper currency image and puts forward an experimental research platform and a design reference scheme and provides a reference to final product development.In the software design, we make particular researches on paper currency recognition through the analysis of paper currency feature. Then in pre-processing stage, for the allowance of the real time demand, we apply linear fitting to determine the border of paper currency to achieve localization and adjustment directly. By the analysis of much paper currency, we propose a method of feature extraction based on partial directional block feature extraction. In the design of classifier, we build a paper currency classifier based on the length and a general one based on the directional block feature. Then we could recognize the value, direction and deformity of paper currency.In the hardware circuit design, the technologies of CIS, CPLD and DSP are combined. After high speed collection through CIS and conversion from A/D, the image data are saved in the DSP space. The DSP gives the image data a series of disposal in order to realize the recognition and separation. The CPLD provides the clock and logical signals for the whole system. The experiment proves that this system can meet the technology requirements in real time and separation.
