JXTA is a set of open, generalized peer-to-peer (P2P) protocols that allow any networked device to communicate and collaborate mutually as peers. As the Web continues to grow in both content and the number of connected devices, peer-to-peer computing is becoming increasingly prevalent. We urgently need a public platform to support this development of network, and JXTA suitability satisfies this want. This article first simply introduces the P2P network, the abstract concepts and core protocols of JXTA. Through comparing with the different version of JXTA, we open out the newest features of JXTA. We design and implement a P2P instant messenger services and add a discovery experiment to test unf-full discovery of JXTA.Secondly, we research on the JXTA discovery protocol and compare with other P2P discovery mechanism. On the simulation in P2PSim, we compared the performance of discovery in Chord, Tapestry and JXTA environments. Finally, with advanced analyzing in JXTA protocols, this paper aims at the deficiency of JXTA protocols, and uses an estimate strategy to manage rendezvous peers by controlling the number. And then, we also gain a query policy and modify parts of JXTA Protocols. Using the programming to validate the strategy, we also analyze the influenced performance of networks.
